Since age 11 Jon has played trumpet and photographed.
As a teenager growing up in the Los Angeles area he had access and exposure to incredible and able assets in both disciplines. Over time he took good advantage of opportunity and proximity.
Over many years Jon Deshler has performed with a wide range of musicians in a broad array of settings. Having significantly rebooted and reinvested in his musical life in the mid 2000's, Jon joined the LACC Studio Jazz Band and often visited jam sessions and performed at the World Stage in Leimert Park, La Louisiana, and others in and around Los Angeles. At the same time he began to perform at the Unity Fellowship Church, Los Angeles, and later at the Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church, Portland, OR.
In 2020 TUNE TOURS was born out of a need to continue to perform during the covid advent. Deshler and associates traveled all over Oregon making humble music videos of the Great American Songbook in beautiful Oregon landscapes
In the summer of 2022 Deshler's Quartet Opened for Norah Jones at the Southern Oregon Britt Festival, in the summer of 2023 they performed at the Mt Hood Jazz Festival with friend Marilyn T. Keller, and in the summer of 2024 Deshler and partner Neal Grandstaff presented their TUNE TOURS Duo and a Quartet at the Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Oregon.
